New guidelines for website forms

The Krieger School is now using Gravity Forms on our websites to increase security and better protect form data. Departments will still be able to build webforms and collect responses, but with different standards. Forms that collect the following information should be built on an external tool, preferably Qualtrics:

  • Forms that collect personal information (JHU ID numbers, GPA information, or other sensitive non-directory information)
  • Forms that require uploads should no longer be built directly on WordPress websites, but should use an external tool.
  • Applications for scholarships, jobs, internships, etc.

Qualtrics accounts are available to all JHU staff by contacting IT. Users creating simple forms for events or workshops may also consider using a Google or Eventbrite form, which are easier to create and maintain. Event forms created with Gravity will be removed after a certain of period of time on the website.
