Mineralogy Lecture: Wednesday, September 26th.

This week our guest lecturer is Dr. Ray Smith, Physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. In 2001, he joined the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) as a postdoctoral researcher, were he worked on the development of X-ray lasers for applications on the COMET laser facility. In 2002, he joined Equation of State (EOS) group were he is currently developing isentropic compression experiments (ICE) on the Omega and Janus laser facilities.

The title of his talk is “Velocity Interferometry techniques to determine the equation of state of Fe at TPa pressures”.
