Mentoring to Inspire Diversity in Science (MInDS) is a peer-mentorship group founded by graduate-level students of Johns Hopkins’ Biology Department. The organization prides itself in having representation from all years and concentrations spanning the Cellular, Molecular, Developmental Biology & Biophysics programs.  As an intra-department student support group, we strive to be an inclusive group with resources to mentor and foster the success of CMDB PhD students.  We do so by facilitating presentation practice talks, qualifying exampreparation, grant writing workshops, and thesis lab advising.

MInDS also believes in diversity in science, both at Hopkins and in our surrounding communities. We engage in active K-12 outreach by hosting on-campus outreach events for the surrounding communities, participating in the science outreach efforts of other organizations, and encouraging students to pursue careers in science. Through these efforts, MInDS would like to share the joy of scientific exploration and aims to break down barriers to encourage the scientific pursuits of underrepresented groups.
