3rd Annual Safety Day THIS Friday!

The Third Annual Safety Day hosted by the Chemistry Student Safety Committee will be taking place THIS Friday, October 25th. It will be an all-day schedule from 9am-7:30pm with free food, talks, certified trainings, giveaways, trivia, and more! Be sure to participate!

There are still a few open spots left for registration so don’t miss your chance if you’re still interested in trainings! It’s a great opportunity to get free trainings and certifications so use these links for certified CPR training or for fire extinguisher training

Coffee + Welcome to Safety Day – Remsen 233 – 9-10am

Coffee hour and a welcome to Safety Day 3.0.

CPR Training – Remsen 140 – 9am-noon

DLDS Career Panel- Virtual – 10-11:15am

Faculty Roundtable Discussion – Remsen 300 – 1:15-2:25pm

Listen to Chemistry Department faculty talk about safety lessons they have learned throughout their careers doing research! 

Fire Extinguisher Training – Remsen 140 – 2:30-3:30pm

Register with this link. Spaces are limited so register as soon as you can! Dan Kuespert will be offering fire extinguisher training and certification, you will get to try your hand at fighting fires in virtual reality and discharge a real fire extinguisher. 

CSSC Feature Talk – Remsen 233 – 2:30-3:30pm

The CSSC will be hosting a talk covering safety incidents that involved pressurized systems, and how we can learn from those events to not make those same mistakes in the future. 

HSE Feature Talk – Remsen 233 – 3:45-4:45pm

We will hear from HSE, the experts themselves, about chemical handling and emergency management.

Happy Hour and Trivia – Mudd Atrium – 5:30-7:30pm

Wrap up a long day of safety activities with a happy hour hosted by the Happy Hour Committee and win some prizes at trivia! There will also be a raffle for those who attended activities throughout the day.
