May 2024: Congratulations to Tingyu Wen on her publication in Chemical Research in Toxicology. Tingyu developed a sensitive, quantitative method for analyzing previously unrecognized DNA-protein cross-links involving the major DNA alkylation product, N7-methyl-2′-deoxyguanosine. She also showed that these previously unknown DNA damages contribute to the cytotoxicity of a DNA monofunctional alkylating agent.

June 2023: Congratulations to Son Vu and Haihui Peng on their publication in the Journal of Organic Chemistry. They showed that oxime esters can be used as radical precursors for a nitrogen-centered DNA radical. This could prove useful for producing radiosensitizing agents.
April 2023: Congratulations to Haozhe Yang on his publication in Chemical Research in Toxicology. Haozhe showed that the widely studied DNA lesion, 8-OxodGuo is generally less mutagenic in human cells than Fapy•dG, a chemically related DNA lesion that our group has extensively studied.
