The Language and Cognition Lab in the Cognitive Science department at Johns Hopkins University has an opening for a post-doctoral fellow who will lead a new project on young children’s block-building capacities as a window into the broader development of spatial representations. This project is a newly-funded 3-year project built on a collaboration between cognitive scientists and colleagues in computer science and education. The fellow will be involved in all aspects of the research, including organizing the research team, designing stimuli, recruiting and testing child participants, analyzing data, and preparing the results for publication. He/ she will also be expected to interface with colleagues in computer science who will be using the cognitive data to construct machine-learning models of the block-building process. The team assembled for this project is highly interdisciplinary, and there will be substantial opportunity for the fellow to broaden his/her skill set as well as to interact with the Science of Learning community at Johns Hopkins. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience.
