The Instrument Development Group (IDG) is a service center specializing in the development of instrumentation for research in astronomy, condensed matter physics and the natural sciences. The group is located within the William H. Miller III Department of Physics and Astronomy at Johns Hopkins University. Our engineering team is comprised of professional engineers, each with varying expertise in the areas of optical, mechanical, electrical and software engineering. Our fabrication team is world-class, consisting of machinists specializing in the production of precision instrument components and operating out of a state-of-the-art fabrication facility within the Department.
