Mineralogy Lecture: Wednesday, September 26th

Our guest lecturer this week is Dr. Ray Smith of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). In 2001, he joined LLNL as a postdoctoral researcher, were he worked on the development of X-ray lasers for applications on the COMET laser facility. In 2002, he joined Equation of State (EOS) group were he is currently developing isentropic compression experiments (ICE) on the Omega and Janus laser facilities.

The title of this talk is “Velocity Interferometry techniques to determine the equation of state of Fe at TPa pressures”, and the abstract is here:RS.Abstract

As usual, we will have espresso and cookies at 4:00, followed by the lecture in Olin 247. Hope to see you there.
