Transoceanic shipping and the planet\u2019s hydrosphere define the global scope of the group\u2019s interests, but we place particular emphasis on the marine environments of the Port of Baltimore, the greater Tidewater region, and the Atlantic world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Tidewater Initiative supports opportunities for faculty, graduate, and undergraduate study, as well as extramural collaboration. Our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.krieger.jhu.edu\/tidewater\/events-calendar\/\">event calendar<\/a> includes research workshops, readings, public events, and other activities. The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.krieger.jhu.edu\/tidewater\/waterfront-working-group\/\">Waterfront Working Group<\/a>&nbsp;is a mobile seminar that meets a few times annually.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Undergraduates<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>may look for <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.krieger.jhu.edu\/tidewater\/courses\/\">courses&nbsp;that welcome students into the research group<\/a>, including \u201cLiterature and the Sea\u201d (Professors Nadia Nurhussein and\/or Harris Feinsod), and \u201cHumanities Research Lab: Port of Call&#8211;Baltimore\u201d (Professor Harris Feinsod). We welcome inquiries about&nbsp;undergraduate research assistantships&nbsp;and&nbsp;graduate research associateships&nbsp;affiliated with Tidewater\u2019s evolving Humanities Lab.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Tidewater Initiative, established by Harris Feinsod in 2024 with support from the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, is a program partner with the <a href=\"https:\/\/krieger.jhu.edu\/humanities-institute\/\">Alexander Grass Institute for the Humanities<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are a multidisciplinary research group devoted to study, stewardship, and stories of working waterfronts, coastal infrastructure, and oceans under conditions of globalization and environmental instability.
