Please join this graduate workshop sponsored by the Department of Sociology and Program in Racism, Immigration, and Citizenship for a conversation on how to adopt archival research methods in the social sciences. The workshop will feature Dr. Christy Thornton<\/strong> (Sociology) and Dr. Stuart Schrader<\/strong> (Africana Studies), as well as two PhD candidates, Conrad Jacober<\/strong> (Sociology) and Steph Saxton<\/strong> (Political Science), discussing the challenges and rewards of archival research in the social sciences. The discussion will focus on research on political economy, colonialism, and state power. Speakers will offer practical guidance as well theoretical and methodological insights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This workshop is open to Hopkins graduate students, as well as undergraduates and faculty. Members of the History Department are especially encouraged to join this interdisciplinary conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This graduate workshop is the third in a series hosted by the Program in Racism, Immigration, and Citizenship. The first, Questions of Belonging: Agency, Erasure, and Visibility in Germany and the US<\/a>, is 10\/31 at 11:30am and the second, Critical Methods in the Study of Racism, Colonialism, and Political Economy<\/a>, is 11\/6 at 4:30pm.<\/p>\n\n\n
