Duplex Printing
To set duplex printing as default option, do the following on Windows PC:
1. Start -> Setting -> Printer and Faxes. Usual printer models are HP LaserJet 2300, 2400 or P3005.
2. Right click the printer name and choose “Printing preferences”.
3. Click “Finishing” on menu bar. Check the checkbox “Print on both side”.
4. Type a name on “Print Task Quick Sets”, e.g., duplex. Click Save.
5. Click OK.
Installation
Note: the information here is for those who know how to install a printer on their laptop once they know the IP address and printer model. If you are not sure what to do, the easy way is to send jkong@math.jhu.edu an email. Please read the paragraph about Lj8000 printer is you have trouble printing to it.
Here is the information about some network printers in math department.
The big printer in Krieger 409 (accessible by faculty and staff only):
IP address: 128.220.31.227
Name in chow: Lj8000
Printer model: HP Laserjet 8000dtn
Duplex printing: supported (not in chow).
Driver: Both Windows and Mac OS X have the driver in their driver list. However from Windows XP, please choose “HP Lasetjet 8000 Series PCL” printer driver. If you need help, send me an email. This is an old printer, the network card and the duplex unit are not in good shape. The PCL driver produces fewer errors.
The small printer in Krieger 409 (accessible by faculty and staff only):
IP address: 128.220.31.31
Name in Chow: ps409
Printer model: HP Laserjet P3005dn
Duplex printing: supported
Driver: Windows XP users need to download driver from HP.
The printer in Krieger 209 (accessible by faculty, staff and graduate students):
IP address: 128.220.31.153
Name in Chow: ps207
Printer model: HP Laserjet P3015dn
Duplex printing: supported
Driver: Windows XP users need to download driver from HP.
The color printer in Krieger 404: contact staff member if you need to print to it.
