It offers a comprehensive range of organic and bio-organic mass spectral techniques to chemical researchers using a suite of instruments equipped with a range of different ionization methods, including EI, CI, FAB, ESI, and MALDI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The facility&#8217;s primary role is to support chemical research conducted within the department, but it is also available for use by researchers from other JHU departments and divisions, along with those from external institutions and commercial organizations, where capacity allows. Most instruments are normally operated by users themselves on a self-service basis following user training by the facility manager, though a few are operated by our facility manager on a &#8220;submitted-sample&#8221; service basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The facility is managed by <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.krieger.jhu.edu\/mass-spec\/personnel\/\">Dr. Phil Mortimer<\/a> and is located in the basement of Remsen Hall on the University&#8217;s Homewood Campus.
