Human Resources

Human Resources provides support services to the faculty and staff of JHU. HR services include:

  • Administration of payroll and compensation
  • Recruitment/hiring
  • Benefits
  • Training and education
  • Career management
  • Organizational development
  • Employment issues
  • Performance management
  • Policy development/implementation/interpretation

The Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and Whiting School of Engineering combined Human Resources staff provides information and consultation in all of these areas to the faculty and staff of both schools. Please contact us for support in the areas of salary/salary equity, benefits, hiring, performance evaluation, coaching/mentoring, training, career development, organizational development, and policy interpretation. In addition, the HR staff handles research appointments for postdoctoral fellows and research positions.

There is also an Office of the Vice President of Human Resources, and each division of the university has its own divisional office. Many of the individual schools of the university also have separate human resource managers to serve the HR needs of the individual school.

The benefit plans apply to various groups of individuals, senior and support staff, faculty and other appointed positions, and bargaining unit members. Student benefits are provided through the Registrar’s Office. Benefits Services, 410-516-2000, is available to answer both general and specific queries about full- and part-time staff and faculty benefits.

You can also find contacts at the Krieger/Whiting Office of Human Resources.

KSAS Human Resources works with the Office of Compensation to promote fair, equitable, and competitive staff compensation policies, programs, and practices that are supportive and responsive to the needs of the school’s faculty, management, and staff. KSAS HR partners continuously with University Compensation to evaluate individual job requirements and benchmark them with others in and out of the university.
