{"id":6,"date":"2013-09-10T12:21:20","date_gmt":"2013-09-10T12:21:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.krieger.jhu.edu\/template-research\/?page_id=6"},"modified":"2022-01-13T16:26:39","modified_gmt":"2022-01-13T21:26:39","slug":"booking","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.krieger.jhu.edu\/chemistry-nmr\/booking\/","title":{"rendered":"Booking"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spectrometer bookings can be made on the core facilities instrumentation scheduler in <a href=\"https:\/\/openinstrument.jhu.edu\">OpenInstrument<\/a>.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prime NMR time is between 11:00am and 7:00pm, Monday to Friday<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Reservations for prime time open at 6:00 pm the previous day.<\/li><li>Users may reserve\u00a0<strong>maximum of four 15 minute prime time slots per day across all systems together<\/strong>\u00a0unless prior permission is obtained from the facility manager for special experiments (e.g. a low temperature experiment or a short 2D experiment that requires assistance setting up.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reservations for longer runs during daytime hours (11am to 7pm)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>For experiments planned\u00a0<strong>\u2265 2 hours\u00a0<\/strong>, reservations should be made at least\u00a0<strong>two days in advance\u00a0<\/strong>of the scheduled time to allow for students to plan around your science.<\/li><li>For experiments between\u00a0<strong>1 and 2 hours in length\u00a0<\/strong>, reservations should be made\u00a0<strong>one day in advance<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reservation Etiquette<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Users may use only&nbsp;<strong>one instrument at a time&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li><li>Users must make a reservation on OpenInstrument to gain access to the spectrometer&#8217;s computer before beginning spectrometer use. When finishing, click on the Sign Out button next to the user name on the top or bottom of the screen to end usage tracking&nbsp;<ul><li><strong>Users are responsible for logging off of the systems when the experiments are finished. If a user remains logged in, even when an experiment is not running, they will be charged for that time (including late night experiments)&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>If you know that you are unable to meet your reservation time, please remove\/modify your reservation so that others can book within that time period&nbsp;<\/li><li>Grace periods apply for&nbsp;<strong>ALL&nbsp;<\/strong>reservations:&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>5 minutes for prime, 10 min for evening and 15 min for overnight<\/strong>. The current user may continue using the instrument if the next person does not show within the grace period &#8211; otherwise the spectrometer becomes open to any user<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Overnight Reservations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Within one evening, a maximum of two of the three research instruments (NCB and Remsen) can be used for overnight runs. This will provide late night users access to one instrument for shorter experiments<\/li><li>Overnight experiments are restricted to be between 7pm and 9am<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional Guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>First time new users\u00a0<strong>MUST\u00a0<\/strong>schedule training with the Facility Manager, Dr. Jonathan Catazaro, in order to implement proper account setup on each instrument\u00a0<\/li><li><sup>19<\/sup>F acquisitions are restricted to the REM300 and UTL400 systems<\/li><li><strong>Only the person who reserved and checked into the instrument is allowed to use it at that time<\/strong>. Qualified users training other users are the ONLY exception and must be present during the entire training session.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Account sharing is strictly prohibited<\/strong>. Persons found violating these guidelines will immediately\u00a0<strong>forfeit use of the instrument!<\/strong><\/li><li>Data files are stored in your JHED ID USER directory folder on the U: drive<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTE: ChemNMR Administrators reserve the right to modify all reservations, monitor instrument use, schedule training\/maintenance during primetime and manage all user files.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spectrometer bookings can be made on the core facilities instrumentation scheduler in OpenInstrument.
