Each year, this full-time, paid summer internship provides two students with hands-on experience working with leading international development organizations in Washington, D.C. Her commitment to social policy grew from four years of mentoring Afghan refugee families in Denver, helping them navigate immigration and public benefits systems. She has also worked as an economic research intern, analyzing macroeconomic trends and policy developments across international markets. On campus, Elizabeth serves on the executive board of the&nbsp;<em>Foreign Affairs Review<\/em>&nbsp;and is an officer in the Alexander Hamilton Society, where she fosters student engagement with international affairs and foreign policy. As a Research Assistant at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School&#8217;s Human Capital Development Lab, she has authored briefs on AI governance and ESG policy&nbsp;and, at the National Assembly of Korea, she has produced Korean-language research briefs on healthcare and pharmaceutical legislation to directly support a sitting representative&#8217;s parliamentary work as a Legislative Intern. Currently, she manages the Korean-language legal hotline at the Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center, where she conducts client intakes, translates naturalization applications, and assists low-income Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in the DMV region with immigration proceedings. On campus, she serves as the president of Korean American Student Association (KASA) and the VP of Communications and Events for Hopkins Public Policy and Service Network (HPPSN). She is Treasurer of the Arab Student Union, where she manages finances and coordinates community-building events within the Arab community and without. Her work as a Research Assistant with the Renwick lab in the Cognitive Science department, with Dr. Simon Halliday as part of the SNF Agora Institute, and with the Immigration Bureaucracy Lab in the Political Science department connects sociological and political analysis of trends across society and government to better understand the human condition.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yasmin will intern at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cgiar.org\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.cgiar.org\/\">CGIAR<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Contact<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are you an undergraduate at Johns Hopkins? Aron will be working with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifpri.org\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.ifpri.org\/\">International Food Policy Research Institute<\/a>. TK will work at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldbank.org\/ext\/en\/home\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.worldbank.org\/ext\/en\/home\">World Bank<\/a>. As a research assistant with the 21st Century Cities Initiative and the SNF Agora Institute, he has contributed to projects on microfinance in India and urban demography in Baltimore. Aron is broadly interested in social change and development in underserved communities, and in how sociological research can be translated into practical solutions. His interest in international development grew through coursework on global capitalism and social policy, and a desire to understand how local policy can address global disparities in access to resources, education, and opportunity. She is Treasurer of the Johns Hopkins University Debate Council, where she has represented Hopkins at the North American Universities Debating Championship and the World Universities Debating Championship.
